English Seminar UGC Sponsored Two-Day National Seminar On Literature As Panacea By PG & Research Dept of English Mazharul Uloom College,

A two-day UGC Sponsored National Seminar on Literature as Panacea was held by the PG & Research Dept of English, Mazharul Uloom College, Ambur on 12 and 13 August 2014 at N.M. Zackriah Auditorium. About 250 Students, Research Scholars and Professors from many colleges from Tamil Nadu, Kerala and other states participated. Selected students and staffs makde power point presentations on various themes. The Secretary & Correspondent Mr. M. Nazar Mohamed Sahib presided over the function. The Principal Dr. P.M.Aadil Ahmed and Prof D. Nisar Ahmed, Former Principal addressed the gathering. Dr. A.S. Mohamed Rafee, Head of the Dept and Convener welcomed all.

The Chief Guest for the first day was Dr. V. Peruvalluthi, Prof & Head, Dept of English, Thiruvalluvar University, Vellore. Prof A. Shafee Ahmed Khan, the Organizing Secretary, introduced the Chief Guest. Prof P.J. Sadia Parveen and Prof M. Uzefa Rashida were Coordinators. A book entitled “The Old Man and the Sea A Study” authored by Prof P.J. Sadia Parveen and another entitled “English Language Teaching” authored by Prof M. Uzefa Rashida were also released on the occasion.

Dr. Asha K Nair, Prof of English, Mahatma Gandhi College, Trivandrum, Kerala, Dr. Eugini Fatima Mary, Principal, Auxilium College for Women, Gandhi Nagar Vellore and Dr. Anvar Sadhath, Associate Prof of English, The New College, Chennai were the Chairpersons for the first day. Twenty eight students made presentations on six themes: 1) Shakespearean Relevance, 2) Women’s Issues in Fiction, 3) Indian Poetry for Peace, 4) Translation a Window to World Culture, 5) Beyond Language and Culture and 6) The Meaning of Magical Realism. Two in each theme were given prizes and all were given participation and appreciation certificates. Prof M. Uzefa Rashida gave vote of thanks.

The Chief Guest for the Valedictory function was Dr. K. Revathi, Prof of English,  VIT, University, Vellore. The Secretary & Correspondent Mr. M. Nazar Mohamed Sahib, the Principal Dr. P.M.Aadil Ahmed addressed the gathering. Dr. A.S. Mohamed Rafee, Head of the Dept and Convener welcomed all. Dr. R. Kasthuri Bai, Dean, Faculty Development Paavai Institutions, Namakkal and Dr. M. Anandharaj, Associate Prof of English, Sir Thiyagaraya College, Chennai were the Chairpersons. Professors from various colleges made presentations on the six themes. Prof P.J. Sadia Parveen and Prof M. Uzefa Rashida were Coordinators. Prof A. Shafee Ahmed Khan, the Organizing Secretary gave vote of thanks.
