National Seminar on Artificial Intelligence for Advancing Microbial Science

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Department of Microbiology, jointly organized a one-day national seminar on “Artificial Intelligence for Advancing Microbial Science” on 7th January 2026 at the NMZ Auditorium. The seminar aimed to create awareness among students and faculty on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in microbiology and biological sciences. The program commenced with Qirath, followed by its translation and Tamil Thai Vazhthu. The Welcome Address was delivered by Mr. G. Janarthanan, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Microbiology. The Inaugural Address by Dr. K. H. Kaleemullah, Principal i/c, emphasized interdisciplinary learning, followed by a Special Address by Mrs. M. A. Uzefa Rashida, Vice Principal (Shift II) and Director–IQAC, highlighting quality-driven academic initiatives. The first technical session by Dr. Raksha K., Consultant Microbiologist, Manipal Hospitals, Bengaluru, focused on AI applications in microbial diagnostics and healthcare. The second session by Dr. Arnold Emerson I., VIT University, Vellore, discussed AI and ML in biological research and bioinformatics. The post-lunch session featured student poster presentations with 14 teams participating. The programme concluded with the Valedictory Address by Dr. A. Shafee Ahmed Khan, Vice Principal (Shift I) and Controller of Examinations. A total of 152 students and 12 staff members participated, making the seminar highly informative and successful.
