About The Department
Established in 1963, the Department of English is one of the oldest and most prestigious departments in the institution. Dedicated to the holistic development of students, the department fosters intellectual, social, and creative growth through a dynamic and engaging learning environment. Renowned for its excellence in language, literature, and communication studies, the department offers undergraduate and research programs, guided by an experienced faculty and a distinguished alumni network. To support aspiring civil service candidates, the department also provides a Job-Oriented Course (JOC). The Literary Forum, an integral part of the department, encourages students to explore the world of literature, language, and critical thinking through activities such as book discussions, creative writing workshops, debates, seminars, guest lectures, poetry recitations, and theatre performances. These initiatives enhance students' analytical skills, communication abilities, leadership qualities, and research acumen, equipping them for successful careers in academia, publishing, media, corporate communications, and creative industries.
